Stewart B. McKinney (1931-1987) served as a Republican Congressman from the state of Connecticut from 1971 until his death in 1987. During his time in Congress, McKinney served as the ranking minority member of the House District of Columbia Committee. McKinney was the author of the 1973 D.C. Home Rule Act.
Stewart B. McKinney was a Republican Congressman from Connecticut's Fourth District, elected to the 92nd Congress on November 3, 1970 and re-elected 8 times from 1972-1986. McKinney served as a State Representative to the Connecticut General Assembly, 1966-1970 and was minority leader of the State House of Representatives, 1969-1970. McKinney was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 30, 1931. He lived in Fairfield as a child and moved to Westport in 1982. On his death May 7, 1987, McKinney was a resident of Green Farms, Connecticut.
