Biographical History

The Town of Cazenovia, New York was named for Theophilus Cazenove, the general agent for the Holland Land Company, a stock company of Dutch business concerns. John (Jan) Lincklaen was in charge of selling the Holland Land Company properties in the Cazenovia area to individuals. The surveyor, Enos Cushing (ca. 1779-1866) settled in Cazenovia, New York in 1815.
