Marine painter, illustrator; East Gloucester, Massachusetts.

From the description of Gordon Grant letter [with sketches], and printed material, 1948 and 1979. (Unknown). WorldCat record id: 122333461

Gordon Grant's paintings and etchings of boats and other maritime subjects was influenced by his boyhood sea voyage from San Francisco to Scotland at a time when such trips still involved sailing around Cape Horn. Prints of his paintings and drawings of the U.S.S. Constitution greatly contributed to the preservation of that famous vessel. He worked as an illustrator for Harper's Weekly, Puck, and the San Francisco Examiner. Even though he was best know as a marine painter, he created etchings and lithographs.
