Monro MacCloskey (b. 1902, Fort Worden, Wash.-d. Jan. 29, 1983), U.S. Air Force officer, graduated from West Point in 1924, resigned his commission, and joined the Air Corps in the National Guard. He was recalled to active duty in 1941, and the following year transferred to Army Headquarters in the European Theater of Operations for duty regarding the invasion of North Africa and organization of the 12th Air Force. In 1943 he became a member of the joint planning staff of the Mediterranean Air Command, and later in the War assumed command of the 122nd Bomb Squadron, commanded the 885th Bomb Squadron, and was commander of Special Groups engaged in supply-dropping operations in Italy. Post-war assignments included chief, Air Intelligence Policy Division; Air Attaché in Paris, France; and Air Defense commands in the United States. He retired in 1957.
