The Community Service Workshop, funded under Title I of the Higher Education Act of 1965, was held at the University of Chicago from October 1966 to June 1967. The Workshop was sponsored by the University's Center for Urban Studies, the School for Social Service Administration, and University Extension.
The Community Service Workshop was funded under Title I of the Higher Education Act of 1965, and held at the university of Chicago from October 1966 to June, 1967. The one hundred participants chosen for the workshop were drawn from public and private agencies, and included volunteers and local community leaders. Special care was taken to insure heterogeneity of the groups in order to provide an "enriching educational experience."
The Workshop was held in three phases and included lectures, large and small group discussions, field trips, and supervised field research. The Workshop was sponsored by the Center for Urban Studies, the School of Social Service Administration, and University Extension.
