Biographical History

Alfredo M. Santos (b. July 13, 1905, Manila, Philippines-d. Feb. 7, 1990), Philippine Army general, was chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from 1962 to 1965, and the first four-star general of that country's armed forces. Known as a “Freedom Fighters” with a heroic war record. During World War II he participated in all of the major battles in the Philippines, including Bataan and Corregidor. In 1956 he became the first Chief of SEATO's (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization) Military Planning Office.
