Biographical History

William Small, the son of William and Sarah (Clark) Small was born in Danvers, Massachusetts on October 21, 1843. He married Patience Lovejoy (1766-1851), in Amherst, New Hampshire, on February 1, 1787. Their son, William, moved to Morristown in June, 1811 and they followed in 1813, becoming one of the first settlers in the "Randolph" section of that town. William Small died July 4, 1862.

William and Patience had 12 children. The ones included in this collection are: William (1787-1862), George (1789-1875), Luther (1791-1851), Patience (1793-1849), Mary (1799-1863), Nancy B. (1807-1894), and Laura (1810-1898), who married Nathan Herrick (b. 1807) on October 3, 1830, and moved west to Dubuque, Iowa and then to Minneapolis, Minnesota. They had four children: Henry N. (1832-1886; Louise M. (b. 1834); George W. (b. 1838); Albert E. (b. 1842). Nathan Herrick was in the marble business.

William Small (1787-1862) married Lucy Churchill (1807-1888) and had three surviving children: William Milo (1829-1914), Levi S. (1842-1932); and Viola (1849-1936). William Milo married first Loretta S. Dyke (1838-1861), and then Harriet E. Bennett (1838-1916). William and Harriet had two children: William H. (1864-1894) and Fred Milo (1870-1939).
