Biographical History
The State Board of Conservation was created in 1933 (Ch. 16178, Laws). The Board licensed salt water fishing boats; controlled the state's geological and water resources, including conservation and geologic surveys; encouraged the development of waterways; controlled the flood control and water management districts; and promoted the seafood industry in Florida. In 1969, the Board's functions were transferred to the Dept. of Natural Resources and the Dept. of Business Regulation (Ch. 69-106, Laws).
