Biographical History

Ross O. Doyen was born on October 1, 1926 in Rice, Kansas, and was a farmer and rancher before his political career. As a Republican in the Kansas Senate, he represented district 16 between 1959-1960, district 58 between 1961-1964, district 56 between 1965-1966, and district 97 between 1967-1968. He served as a senator 1969-1992, with positions as chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee and president of the senate. Additionally, he served with the National Conference of State Legislatures and the Council of State Governments. Doyen is also a Navy veteran of World War II. [Kansas Library.
