The Johnson family were early Mormon converts and pioneers in Utah and Arizona. Benjamin Franklin Johnson (1818-1905) was a private secretary to Joseph Smith and a member of Brigham Young's 1847 pioneer company. He later helped settle Summit Creek, Utah and Mesa, Arizona. His son, James Francis Johnson (1856-1916) was a farmer and wood contractor in Utah and Arizona.
