James Tatham was a surgeon of Leeds. William Cullen was Professor of Medicine in Glasgow (1751-1755); Professor of Chemistry at Edinburgh from 1755; Clinical lecturer at the Royal Infirmary(1757); Professor of the Institutes of Medicine (1766); Professor of the Practice of Physic (1789). He was President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, 1773-1775
