Biographical History

The Sheet Iron Workers', Light Platers' and Ships' Range Makers' Society was founded in Glasgow in 1900. At some time after 1909 it was renamed the Sheet Iron and Light Plate Workers' Society. In 1950 this merged with the National Union of Sheet Metal Workers and Braziers, which in turn became the National Union of Sheet Metal Workers and Coppersmiths in 1959.
