Biographical History
The Illinois Commission on State Government (1965-1967), a fifteen-member commission including five state Senators, five state representatives, and five citizens appointed by the Governor, was created to survey state government organization (including advisory bodies), functions, and interrelationships. Besides examining all laws applying to governmental operations, the commission (whose authority did not extend to the state's revenue system) was to make recommendations for increased efficiency, by simplifying or consolidating unit functions and eliminating duty duplication. The commission completed its work and made its final report to the Governor and the General Assembly in 1967.
