The Webb-Waring Institute was originally founded by Dr. Gerald R. Webb, a tuberculosis specialist, and Dr. James J. Waring, Chairman of the Dept. of Medicine of the University of Colo. School of Medicine in Colo. Springs, Colo. in 1924. The institute relocated to CU's medical campus, later known as the CU Health Sciences Center, at Ninth Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, Denver, Colo. in 1952. In 2008, the Webb-Waring Institute established a partnership with the University of Colo. and the Boettcher Foundation. The newly established Webb-Waring Center is part of the UC Denver School of Medicine located in Aurora, Colo. at the Anschutz campus. The Webb-Waring Center is a national leader in disease prevention research.
