Biographical History
Helen Eva Grenga obtained a B.A. in Chemistry in 1960 from Shorter College and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Virginia in 1967. She was employed by the Food and Drug Administration prior to her career in academics. She served Georgia Tech for more than twenty-five years, first as the first fully tenured female engineering professor, and later as an administrator.
Helen E. Grenga, a long-term chemical engineering faculty member and administrator at Georgia Tech, served as a role model and mentor for women engineering students. She was active in the Atlanta and Georgia Tech chapters of the Society of Women Engineers. She retired as dean in the office of Graduate Studies and Research.
