Biographical History
Roland Harold Abraham was born on June 7, 1913 in Olivia, Minnesota. He earned his B.S. in agriculture in 1938 from the University of Minnesota, his Master of Public Administration in 1951 from Harvard University and his Ph.D. in cooperative extension administration in 1963 from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Abraham served as an agriculture county agent for the University of Minnesota's extension service from 1938-1954. In 1954, he was appointed as assistant director of the extension service and he was promoted to director in 1968. In addition to his appointment in the agricultural extension service, Dr. Abraham was given the rank of assistant professor in 1946, associate professor in 1952 and professor in 1957. In 1968, Dr. Abraham was given the Distinguished Ruby service award by the national honorary extension fraternity, Epsilon Sigma Phi, the highest honor bestowed by the organization. Dr. Abraham retired from the University of Minnesota in 1979 as professor emeritus. Roland Abraham died on November 3, 2004.
