Biographical History

John Maass was an author and architectural historian. He was born in Vienna and fled with his family to England to escape the Nazis. He came to the United States in 1941 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1945. After the war, Maass was employed by the N.W. Ayer ? he wrote several books and nearly one hundred articles, including the award winning The Glorious Enterprise, published by the American Life Foundation. Maass was a member of the Victorian Society in America, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the U.S. Presidential Stamp Commission.
