Biographical History
The State Arts Council derived its statutory authority from NRS 233C. The 1997 Legislature changed its name to Nevada State council on the Arts, its mission to "enrich the cultural life of the State through its leadership that preserves, supports, strengthens, and makes accessible excellence in the arts to all Nevadans."
Among the programs are Artists' Service, Art-in-Education, Community Development, Folk Arts, Grants and Information Service. Other programs and projects later emerged out of the needs of the communities.
The NSCA is also the conduit for grants from the National Endowmen for the Arts.
