Biographical History

Royal A. Prentice was born in Norford, New York on 19 July 1877 and died on 4 March 1958 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the spring of 1898, Prentice enlisted in the United States Army so that he might join Theodore Roosevelt's "Rough Riders" to fight in the Spanish-American War. Following participation in the "Cuban Campaign" and an honorable discharge, Prentice returned to Las Vegas to continue his employment as a stenographer. Except for a brief period of employment in Mexico with a railroad company, Prentice lived and worked in Las Vegas and then Tucumcari as an attorney at law.
