Biographical History
Biographical note: Banker, rancher, writer and conservative political activist; Frank Brophy was an amateur historian and wrote articles which appeared in various publications as well as numerous letters to the editor. He purchased the Babocomari Ranch in 1936 where he bred and raised Hereford cattle. He was director of the Arizona National Livestock Show, chairman of the Arizona Racing Commission and a member of the State Fair Commission and was involved with many charities.
Biographical note: Banker, rancher, writer and conservative political activist; Frank Brophy took over his father's business interests including a large share of many banks. Against Brophy's wishes, J.S. Douglas liquidated the Bank of Bisbee and in 1936, Brophy took control of the Bank of Douglas. In 1958, he resigned from the Chairmanship of the Bank of Douglas.
Biographical note: Banker, rancher, writer and conservative political activist; Frank Brophy was a founder and long-time member of the John Birch Society. He was a supporter of Wendell Wilkie and active in Wilkie's presidential campaign. Brophy kept up correspondence with all of Arizona's senators and governors throughout his life. He was a friend of Barry Goldwater and active in Goldwater's political campaigns. He also supported Joseph McCarthy and other national political figures.
