Wendell graduated from Harvard in 1877 and taught English at Harvard.
Harvard English professor.
Teacher, writer, and lecturer. Taught American literature at Harvard College, 1880-1917. Wrote "Cotton Mather, the Puritan priest," "William Shakespeare," "Literary history of America," "National ideals of America," and "Mystery of education, and other academic performances." Wendell was a Trustee of the Athenaeum in 1890.
