Biographical History
Hugh Anderson Haralson (b. 1805 - d. 1854), born near Penfield, Georgia, graduated from Franklin College (University of Georgia) in 1825, and was admitted to the bar in 1825. He married Caroline M. Lewis on November 27, 1828 in Greene County, Georgia. He practiced law in Monroe, Georgia, and LaGrange, Georgia, and pursued agricultural activities. He was a member of the Georgia General Assembly from 1831 to 1832, and the State Senate from 1837 to 1838. He also served in the Georgia State Militia as a major general, from 1838 to 1850. He was elected as a Democrat to the United States House of Representatives, March 4, 1843-March 3, 1851. After serving in Congress, he resumed his law practice in LaGrange, Georgia until his death in 1854. Additional descriptive information regarding Hugh Anderson Haralson has not been determined.
