Biographical History
Shrader was born in 1879 in Quincy, IL; attended Art Institute of Chicago; after two years, won a scholarship to Howard Pyle School in Wilmington, DE; became an illustrator for Harper's, Century, and Scribner's, as well as a landscape painter; became one of the original faculty at Otis Art Institute in 1918, and served as dean from 1928-48; member of the Stacey Foundation, the Painters and Sculptors Club, and president of the CA Art Club; he died on Jan. 20, 1960.
