Biographical History

Glazer was born on May 7, 1887 in Belfast, Ireland; he became an attorney, and then a journalist with the Philadelphia press; wrote several plays and stage adoptions; in the early 1920s, he began writing screenplays for silent films, which he occasionally produced or directed as well; in the late 1920s, he served as head of production at Pathé; he continued with sound productions, and in the 1930s worked mainly for Paramount, chiefly as a producer; screenplays include The merry widow (1925), The dance of life (1929), A farewell to arms (1933), and Tortilla Flat (1942); he died in 1958.
