Biographical History

Joseph and Phebe Sexton settled in Wythe County, Virginia, in the 1770s. Their son Joseph S. established a tannery and saddling business in the town of Evansham (now Wytheville). His sons, David and John, carried on the business, and most of the inventories, accounts, and receipts are concerned with their tenure. John and his wife, Priscilla, are the chief recipients of letters.
