Biographical History
Alonzo Orson Perry was born in Lewis, New York, on May 17, 1836. His father had converted to Mormonism and in the early 1840s the family moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, where Perry was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In around 1846 the family began moving west, first to Council Bluffs, Iowa, and finally to Weber County, Utah, in 1850. Perry married Mary Loiza Stowell in 1863, but she and their infant daughter died in 1864, and Perry subsequently married Mary's sister Ann Janette Stowell. He served on a mission to New England in 1876, and upon his return to Utah served as president of the sixtieth Quorum of Seventies. He died in Vernal, Utah, on January 30, 1912.
