Biographical History

Two day oral history conference in May 1990 sponsored by the Unysis Corporation, the Charles Babbage Institute, and the Smithsonian Institution to examine the role and effect of the UNIVAC on computing and the computer industry in the mid-1950s. The conference involved over twenty-five engineers, programmers, marketing representatives, and salesmen who were involved with the UNIVAC as well as customers who had worked with the machine. The conference was organized in three sessions: UNIVAC customers and sales; UNIVAC technical issues; and the data processing marketplace (1950-1956).
