Bob (Robert Warren) Schaffer, born July 24, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio, served Colorado's Fourth District as their United States Congressional Representative from 1997 to 2002. Schaffer attended the University of Dayton (Ohio) and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in public administration. He worked as a legislative assistant in the Ohio House of Representatives after graduation and several years later moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. Between 1987 and 1997, Bob Schaffer served as the Colorado State Senator from the fourteenth district, then successfully ran for the Fourth District Congressional seat in 1996. Schaffer's peers elected him freshman class president of the 105th Congress. He devoted his time to three House committees: agriculture, education and workforce, and natural resources, and was a sponsor and co-sponsor of many pieces of legislation. Bob Schaffer served three consecutive terms of office, retiring from the House of Representatives November 5, 2002.
