Biographical History
Martin Heidegger was a renowned 20th century philospher and founder of phenomenological ontology. He was born on September 26, 1889, in Messkirch in southwest Germany, and died on May 26, 1976. Heidegger's interest in philosophy began during his high school studies in Freiburg. Upon entering Freiburg University he began studying Theology, but eventually changed to the study of philosophy, mathematics, and natural sciences. Upon completion of his dissertation, Heidegger taught at Freiburg University before moving to Marburg University in 1923. From the 1940s until the end of his life Heidegger spent his time writing, publishing, and lecturing.
