Biographical History

The Spindle, a serial publication of Whitin Machine Works, Whitinsville, Mass., was produced by the company for its employees and friends. It began publication in the late 1910s until the late 1920s, when it was stopped, likely because of the Depression and its financial difficulties. Publication resumed after World War II and continued until 1963 when it was replaced by the Whitin Profile. Publication ceased in 1965 as the company began to relocate its facilities. L.H. Horner was one of the early cartoonists whose work appeared in the late 1910s and early 1920s.

From the description of L.H. Horner cartoon collection, 1919-1921. (Unknown). WorldCat record id: 644203825
