Biographical History

Joseph Reid Bingham, businessman and Methodist layman, was born 26 January 1861, in Carrollton, Mississippi, and died in 1933. He became president of the Carroll County Bank in Carrollton, Mississippi and had interests in real estate and farming. Bingham was very active in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and served as a delegate to both the North Mississippi Conference and the General Conference; was on the board of trustees of Millsaps College and Grenada Collegiate Institute; and was a member of the Board of Trust of Vanderbilt University.
