Biographical History

Alyce Fanslow was born on February 28, 1935. She received a B.S. (1957) in home economics education from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. (1960) in household equipment and a Ph.D. (1966) in home economics education from Iowa State University. She was promoted to assistant professor (1966-1973) in the department of home economics education, associate professor (1973-1979), and professor (1979-1995). In addition, Dr. Fanslow was designated the Mary B. Welch Distinguished Professor (1982) and professor emeritus (1995). She was also a visiting professor (1989) with the Graduate Institute of Home Economics Education at National Taiwan Normal University, and co-managing editor of the Journal of vocational home economics education. In 1984, Dr. Fanslow was recognized as one of "75 Leaders" in home economics at the 75th Meeting of the American Home Economics Association.
