Biographical History

Charles Babbage was a mathematician and inventor.

Theodore Sedgwick of Albany, NY, entered the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy (forerunner of Norwich University) in 1823 and graduated in 1826. Following his graduation, he practiced law and held several offices within the federal government. Sedgwick was appointed U.S. attorney for the southern district of New York in 1858 and served in that capacity until his death the following year. Theodore Sedgwick wrote many articles for periodicals and newspapers, primarily memoirs and works on the law.
