Biographical History

Theodore (Ted) Heusel, news director for radio station WPAG in Ann Arbor, served two terms on the Board of Education for the Ann Arbor Public Schools. He was elected to his first three-year term in June 1968, and was re-elected in June 1971. During 1971-1972 he served as vice-president of the Board, and as President during 1972-1973. The years of Heusel's tenure, 1968-1974, were eventful ones as the Board confronted such diverse issues as student disruptions, teacher strikes, problems relating to racial and sexual discrimination, the Board's adoption of a discipline policy, and the selection of two superintendents.
