Alonzo Smith Pond was a Brigham Young University Professor of Economics from 1937 to 1955. He was the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences 1955-1957, and Dean of the Graduate School, 1957-1959. Pond died 1959.
The Utah Education Association, originally called "The Deseret School Teachers’ Association," was organized in 1860 "for the purpose of establishing a society for promoting the educational interests of the community." Today the Association's mission is to advance the cause of public education by promoting quality teaching and learning and advocating effectively for the rights and interests of its members.
