Biographical History

J. George Harrar (1906-1982), generally regarded as the father of the "Green Revolution," was a plant pathologist who formed and headed the Rockefeller Foundation's pioneering agricultural assistance proghram in Mexico from 1942 to 1952. He later served the Rockefeller Foundation as Deputy Director for Agriculture (1952-1955), Director of Agriculture (1955-1959), Vice-President (1959-1961), and President (1961-1972).
