Biographical History

Journalist Bruce Nichols worked at the Houston Chronicle for the United Press International (UPI) office.

He collected numerous press materials and publications on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston. The U.S. government's National Aeronautics and Space Act established NASA in 1958, and three years later Houston was selected as a site for human spaceflight training. In 1963, the JSC opened as the Manned Spacecraft Center and was renamed after President Lyndon B. Johnson ten years later. The JSC continues to operate all human space missions.
