Biographical History
Synod erected, 1788; divided into Old and New School synods, 1838. The New School Synod of Virginia withdrew from the PCUSA to the United Synod of the South in 1858. The Old School Synod of Virginia withdrew to the PCCSA in 1861. In 1864 the New School synod reunited with the Old School synod. The Synod of Virginia continued in the PCUS after 1865.
