Boebert, Lauren, 1986-

Lauren Opal Boebert (née Roberts, born December 15, 1986) is an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, she has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado's 3rd congressional district since 2021.

Born in Altamonte Springs, Florida, she moved wsith her family to Colorado at the age of 12, first to Denver, then Aurora, and finally Rifle, Colorado. Boebert dropped out of high school during her senior year because she had a child, and took a job as an assistant manager at a McDonald's in Rifle. She later got a job filing for a natural gas drilling company and then became a pipeliner, a member of a team that builds and maintains pipelines and pumping stations. Boebert and her husband opened Shooters Grill in Rifle, west of Glenwood Springs, in 2013. She obtained her GED in 2020, about a month before her first election primary.

A gun-rights activist, Boebert upset incumbent Republican Congressman Scott Tipton in the 2020 congressional primary and defeated former state Representative Diane Mitsch Bush in the general election. Boebert supports legislation that allows for more individual liberty, more freedom and less government intrusion into Americans' daily lives. A fiscal hawk, she is fighting to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse wherever she can. Boebert is focused on policies that foster an environment for economic growth and job creation. She supports repealing the Affordable Care Act and opposes a single-payer healthcare system, abortion, comprehensive sex education, and federal funding of Planned Parenthood.
