Henry Helstoski (b. Mar. 21, 1925, Wallington, N.J.-d. Dec. 16, 1999, Wayne, N.J.), representative from New Jersey, served in the United States Army Air Corps as instructor and radio technician from 1943 to 1945. He attended Paterson State College and graduated from Montclair State Teachers College with a B.A. in 1947, and a M.A. in 1949. He was a teacher, high school principal, and superintendent of schools in Bergen County from 1949 to 1962. He served as councilman of East Rutherford, N.J., in 1956, and as mayor from 1957 to 1965. He was a management consultant in advertising from 1962 to 1964. He was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-ninth and to the five succeeding Congresses, serving from January 3, 1965 to January 3, 1977. From 1981 to 1985, he was superintendent of North Bergen schools, and then engaged as a public relations consultant.
