James Kelleher Bredar (born February 6, 1957) is a United States District Judge in the District of Maryland, a position he has held since 2010. He became Chief Judge in 2017. He previously served as a United States Magistrate Judge in the same district. Bredar served as a United States Magistrate Judge from 1998 until 2010. On April 21, 2010, President Barack Obama nominated Bredar to become United States District Judge for the District of Maryland. He has served as Chief Judge since October 6, 2017.
