Thiele, Colin
Variant namesAuthor and educator. Thiele taught in high schools in Adelaide before joining the Wattle Park Teacher's College in late 1950s; became Principal (1965-1973) and Director (1974-1980). Thiele has written more than 50 books, including children's books, radio plays, verse, historical, environmental and educational texts. See "The Oxford companion to Australian literature", p. 676.

Colin Milton Thiele was born in Eudunda, South Australia in 1920. He is a poet, novelist, biographer, playwright, and teacher and has written numerous award-winning books for young people. Most of his books are set in South Australia and focus on the peaceable coexistence of people and nature.
