Auguste Davezac was a prominent New Orleans attorney and brother-in-law of Edward Livingston. He was personal aide to Andrew Jackson during the defense of New Orleans in 1814-1815. Davezac twice served as chargé d'affaires to the Netherlands (1831-1839 and 1845-1850), was appointed special diplomatic agent to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (1833), and was elected to the New York state legislature (1843).
