Edward Postell King, Jr. (1884-1958) was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his B.L. from the University of Georgia in 1903, and received his commission in the 6th Field Artillery in 1908. He served with 2nd Field Artillery in the Philippines from 1915 to 1917, and later graduated from the Command and General Staff School in 1923. He was an instructor at the Infantry School from 1923 to 1925, and graduated from the Army War College in 1930, and from 1930 to 1935, he was an instructor at the Command and General Staff School. He advanced to the rank if brigadier general in December 1940, and was commander of Fort Stotsenberg in the Philippines from 1940 to 1942. He was a prisoner of war from April 1942 to August 1945. He retired from Army service in November 1946.
