Galeotti, Henri Guillaume (1814-1858).
Variant namesHenri Galeotti (1814-1858) was born in France in 1814 and educated as a geologist. In 1835, the Vandermealen Brothers sent Galeotti to Mexico to collect plants and to study Mexican geology. Galeotti collected over 7,000 specimens over the course of 5 years in Mirador and Jalapa in Veracruz, Real del Monte, Hidalgo, and Oaxaca. He returned to Europe in 1840 and served as Administrator of the Societi de Flore and later as editor of Journal d’Horticulture Pratique. Galeotti served as director of the Jardin Botanique de Bruxelles until his death in 1858.
