A.L. Knapp was a lawyer in Chicago, Jerseyville & Springfield, Ill., & a U.S. Congressman (Democrat) from Jerseyville, Ill. (1861-1865). He married his cousin, Henrietta E. Knapp, in 1863.
A.L. Knapp also served in the Illinois State Senate (1859-1862).
