Pequea Works was a fishing tackle manufacturer located in Strasburg, Pa. The company was founded in Philadelphia late in the 19th century but was re-established in Strasburg in 1907. By the 1920's, the plant employed sixty to seventy people and supplied sport retailers in the United States and Canada. The company claimed that its fishhooks were used in every stream and lake in North America. Edwin Brown, a Millersville Normal School graduate (1888) and principle of the Strasburg school, and H.C. Kaufman originally owned the Strasburg plant. The company changed its name to Pequea Fishing Tackle Inc. sometime in the 1950's and ceased operation in 1987.
