Paula Danziger was born August 18, 1944, and grew up in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Danziger received her degrees from Montclair State College and taught English in junior high school before becoming a full time writer in 1978. Danziger's novels for young adults explore problems to which many teenagers can relate. She bases many situations in her fiction on her own experience and on the experiences reported by her students. Danziger has received many awards and honors for her work, including some from the California Reading Assn., the New York Public Library, Parent's Choice Foundation, and the Child Study Assn.
