English novelist and poet, sister of John Cowper Powys.

Catharine Edith Philippa Powys, known as "Katie," was one of the eleven siblings of the literary Powys family.

She was the author of a novel, The Blackthorn Winter (1930) and a volume of poetry, Driftwood (1930). For much of her adult life, Powys resided at Chydyok, a house near the village of East Chaldon, Dorset, England.

Elizabeth Wade White (1906-1994) was the author of Anne Bradstreet: The Tenth Muse (Oxford University Press, 1971), the standard biography of America's first poet. White came from a wealthy and socially prominent family of Connecticut but became active in a number of left-wing political causes. She met the writer Sylvia Townsend Warner during the latter's trip to the United States in 1929 and Warner later introduced her to the Powys family and members of their circle in Dorset when White visited England.
