Smith, Gerard C.
Variant namesGerard Coad Smith (1914-1994) was a staff member at the Atomic Energy Commission from 1950 to 1954, and a Special Assistant to the Secretary of State for Atomic Affairs from 1954 to 1957. He served as Director of the Department of State's Policy Planning staff from 1957 to 1961, and as the Director of the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency from 1969 to 1972. Smith was a leader of the United States delegation to SALT (Strategic Arms Limitation Talks).
